Lynwood ladies take on the world

The 2016 World Masters Squash Championships was recently held in Johannesburg. Two of our members, Cathy Jackson and Odette Randelhoff travelled to Joburg to take on the world.

Cathy and Odette both eased into the tournament with victories in their opening rounds, Cathy beating Canadian Rita Bloem in 4 sets (11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9) while Odette beat fellow South African Denise Gardner in 3 sets (11-6, 11-5, 11-7).

Their next matches saw them both playing the top seeds in their respective sections, Cathy taking on fellow South African Angie Clifton-Parks and Odette playing the UK's Jill Champion. Angie unfortunately proved too strong for Cathy, winning in 3 sets (11-3, 11-3, 11-3), while Odette unfortunately lost against Jill in 3 sets (7-11, 8-11, 8 -11).

In their final matches, Cathy played Austrian Konny Hollein, losing (8-11, 8-11, 3-11), and Odette played another South African Maryna Aucamp, losing in 4 sets (10-12, 11-9, 5-11, 9-11).

Well done to both ladies.
