FAQ

You are required to become a member of the mother club and the squash sub-section. This will allow you to play league, if you so wish. If you were a member of another club previously, you will require a clearance letter from them.
To join, click on the "Become a Member" link in the menu and fill in your details. Your completed application form will be emailed to the club secretary for ratification at the next committee meeting. If accepted, you will be notified that your application was successfull.

We have implemented an online booking system for both our courts. To access the online booking system, you can use any one of the following..

  • Touch screen terminal

We have installed a touch screen device at the squash courts. It is upstairs, on the wall, between the two squash courts. Please touch the screen to activate and start the booking process.

  • Smart device / Tablet / PC

From any smart device, tablet or PC, please go to the Book a Court URL
You will require a username and password to be able to login, and book a court. Please email squash@lynwoodclub.co.za and your login details will be sent to you. Bookings are limited to 2 peak sessions per member.

Lights are charged at R5.00 for 20 min. Once your membership has been approved, you can purchase a key to the courts from Maria, the bar lady, at a cost of R40.00.

Nick Cole-Bowen organizes Saturday doubles tournaments every 6 to 8 weeks, where the playing format changes for every tournament. These tournaments are very popular as it caters for all levels of squash, and is a family affair.
The squash is followed by supper, where the menu changes as well. To date this year we have had Steak egg and Chips, Easter Bunny, Kangeroo, Mongolian braai, and Warthog spit on the menu.

Friday and Sunday evenings (16h30 to 19h00) are our designated club nights. Matches are limited to three (3) games per playing pair, unless nobody else is waiting to play.

We have both mens and ladies teams entered into the 2019 Profile Property Winter League. As for social squash, the Pietermaritzburg squash fraternity holds two very social tournaments every year, open to all clubs and all playing abilities. The "Collegians Summer League" starts in January, and normally runs for about 6 weeks. The "Gill Weedon Spring League" runs on the same principle as the summer league, i.e it is very social, open to all clubs and all squash players. Entry forms for these tournaments are usually posted on the club notice board. If you are interested in playing doubles, there is a doubles tournament organised by our very own Cathy Jackson. Please speak to her for details, or keep your eyes open for notices on the website, notice board and newsletter.

Our winter league teams are drawn up in accordance with our club ladder. The ladder is situated downstairs, to the left as you enter the main door. The challenge rules and roster will be on the club notice board , when the ladder is open for challenges. This is normally in Jan-Feb (before league starts) and during the mid-year (June-July) break.

Please take a look at the revised squash rules, as released by the World Squash Federation (WSF) in December 2018.
